pining eyes drawn through minipining eyes drawn through miniblindspining eyes drawn through mini by glue
soaking over street side voices
heavy and wet and soundless
ear marked thoughts peppered in
black eye lessons of gray,
covered in walls and space
suffering in days and eyes in the mirror
perpetual escapist, used to be
shallow, sick and important
knee-deep is waist-high to the neck
compunctious to that which comes
pity or compassion or mystery
the patrolmani once glanced down the streetthe patrolman by reduxer
at an officer of the law,
no clue of the life he led
or daily conflict he saw.
he patrolled his city without pity
around his neighborhood,
i saw him stop an old gray car
and beside it he humbly stood.
he followed routine procedures,
only to give a ticket.
but something errored
and emerged a weapon
that tore open his chest,
that drove through like a picket.
on the ground he lay chest display
and writhing in mortal pain,
to be distraught it would be thought
to be unmistakably sane.
his goals in life and all he believed
controlled by his heart,
which now stopped beating
but continued bleeding
for his life now apart.
